i pass a sign like this everyday on my way to work off on 95 and sheridan, I kind of like the treatment on the y. its sort of their logo. but i dont like how the left arm of the y is chopped off, but the rest of it flows so nicely. I dont know im torn. And im not sure i like that the words "welcome to" and the word "florida" aren't in exactly the same style. 3-4 variations of font or style in one little sign is a bit much no?What do you think?
well, I think that you'd find that there are only two fonts. the "welcome to "Holl wood" and "florida" are all the same. some bad decisions in word spacing and tracking though. florida is too tight underneath wood and tracking it out to fit when there is enough room to simply make it larger and drop it down a little....

ReplyDeleteto me it looked like "welcome to" was seriffed and the rest was not. maybe the curved baseline plays tricks on the eye?
